I am an Associate Professor in the Department of English Studies at Sophia University, where I teach North American Studies and Migration Studies. My book Expelling the Poor received an Honorable Mention for the Peggy O'Brien Book Prize from the Irish Association for American Studies, an award given to a book in American Studies published in, and Recognition from Sophia University.


I was recognized by Sophia University as a faculty member who has made outstanding achievements. December Limits of intolerance: nativism and immigration control in nineteenth-century New York.


My article on immigration policy in nineteenth-century New York State was published in the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studiesas part of the special forum: Island Nations: Histories of Demographic Change in Allan nevins dissertation prize Minority Societies.
